How to check your China visa application status
Where you check depends on where you applied. Both official systems show your status once you sign in with the account you applied with.
Applied online with COVA (embassy or consulate)
- Go to consular.mfa.gov.cn/VISA and sign in.
- Select “Track the status of my application” on the homepage.
- After the online review, the status tells you when to bring your passport, the printed barcode page and your originals to the visa office.
Passing the online review does not guarantee a visa. Processing time counts from the day you hand in your passport: in the US, 4 business days for regular service.
Applied at a China Visa Application Service Center
- Go to visaforchina.cn and choose the centre where you applied.
- Sign in, then open My Account › Visa › Track your application.
- Check regularly: the embassy or the centre may ask for more documents.
